TOAN NAM Basil Seeds 100g
These sweet basil seeds from Thailand are mainly used in drinks and desserts. The black seeds turn into a kind of gelatine-like ball when mixed with liquid, giving a funny, unique effect in drinks. It is somewhat similar to Tapioca. You can also add it to e.g. your yoghurt for breakfast.
Description
Preparation method mango pudding:
1 large mango
5 tablespoons basil seeds
2/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
Mix the basil seeds and maple syrup in the (vegetable) milk and let it sit for at least 30 minutes or even overnight to thicken. Cut the mangoes into cubes. Take a dessert bowl and start adding the basil seed pudding layer by layer and then the sliced mangoes. Garnish with some mint leaves and enjoy!
Note: Basil seeds, like chia seeds, can expand up to 27 times their original size. It is therefore recommended to let the seeds soak before consuming them.
